Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi // Etihad Towers-rakennukset Abu Dhabissa

There are five tall buildings located in the city centre area in Abu Dhabi. These buildings are called Etihad Towers. Towers were built 2006-2011 and there are offices, hotels, restaurants and apartments in those buildings.

Towers are located opposite Emirates Palace hotel and there is basically a street between them.

Tower 2. is one of the tallest buildings in Abu Dhabi and its height is 305 meters. There are also an observation deck at 300 meters where you can admire the beautiful city of Abu Dhabi.

If you want to go up there you must buy a ticket worth 95 AED. If you want to have your afternoon tea there it is 250 AED.

Fun facts: You can see the towers in the movie called Fast and Furious 7 where one of the actors drives through the towers.

Abu Dhabin keskustassa sijaitsee viisi korkeaa rakennusta, joita kutsutaan Etihad Towers-nimellä. Rakennukset ovat valmistuneet vuonna 2011 ja niissä on asuinhuoneistoja, toimistoja ja hotelleja sekä ravintoloita. Rakennukset sijaitsevat vastapäätä Emirates Palace hotellia (josta kerroin 1.2. postauksessa), joten ne näkee hyvin hotellin etupihalta.

Torni 2. on yksi Abu Dhabin korkeimmista rakennuksista ja se on 305 metriä korkea. Kyseisessä tornissa on myös Observation deck-niminen paikka, jonne voi ostaa lipun ja näin pääsee ihailemaan maisemia ylhäältä käsin. Lipun hinta ylös torniin on 95 AED (noin 25 euroa) ja jos haluaa juoda siellä iltapäiväteet, niin se kustantaa 250 AED (noin 65 euroa).

Torni 2. on 305 metriä korkea ja se on noin 1/3 maailman korkeimman rakennuksen,  Burj Khalifan pituudesta.

Valentine's Day in Abu Dhabi // Ystävänpäivä Abu Dhabissa

In this year a Valentine's Day was a little bit different than it has been in previous years because I have never been abroad before. 

First I  thought that it might not be such a big thing in here because couple days earlier when I was doing grocery shopping I only saw like few Valentine's Day decorations at the stores. On 13th of February I visited in two stores and I was very surprised. The salesman were busy organizing all the flowers and decorations and there were plenty of groceries and food for Valentine's Day.

I had thought that it would be nice to make the day special somehow
 so I started planning quite early what we would eat on that day. I wanted to make something healthy but still good and tasty. I found pictures of fruit plates from Internet and those were my inspiration when planning the upcoming day. Down below you can find some photos.

Tänä vuonna ystävänpäivä oli hieman erilainen, sillä en ole aiemmin viettänyt sitä ulkomailla.

Aluksi ajattelin, että ystävänpäivää ei täällä oikeen vietettäisi. Ajatukseni vahvistuivat entisestään, sillä käydessäni kaupassa muutamaa päivää ennnen ystävänpäivää, siellä ei ollut juuri lainkaan mitään kyseenomaiseen päivään liittyvää tarjolla. Hämmästyin suuresti, kun 13. päivä kävin ostoksilla ja kauppojen henkilökunta oli kovaa vauhtia laittamassa kukkia ja kaikenlaista muuta ystävänpäivätuotetta esille. Oli paljon erilaisia kukkia, ruokia, leivonnaisia ja koristeita sekä lahjoja.


Halusin tehdä ystävänpäivästä hieman erilaisen päivän normaaliin arkeen verrattuna, joten aloin hyvissä ajoin miettimään, miten sen tekisin. Törmäsin netissä upeisiin kuviin hedelmälautasista ja päätin, että jotain samantyylistä haluan itsekkin laittaa tarjolle. Yllä näette muutamia kuvia valmistelusta ja itse aamupalapöydästä.

Emirates Palace Hotel // Emirates Palace Hotelli

On 22.12 we headed to the Emirates Palace Hotel, Etihad Towers and Presidential Palace. All these three attractions are located near each other, by a walking  distance. In this blogpost I'm going to tell you about the Emirates Palace Hotel.

First we stopped by at the Emirates Palace Hotel which is a five star hotel located in the city centre of Abu Dhabi. It was opened to the quests in 2005 and it is 3rd most expensive hotel that has been built. There are almost 400 rooms and suites, meeting rooms, 1,3 km long private beach, several restaurants, helicopter landing areas and so on. Hotel is both a tourist attraction and a place to stay the night. One night at the hotel costs approximately 2000AED (almost 500 euros) for two persons. During summer time the price is approximately 1100 AED (almost 300 euros). Visiting in a hotel area is free of charge but you must wear appropriate clothes for example shorts and swimsuit are not acceptable.

Espresso in Le Cafe Restaurant.

During our visit we stopped by in Le Cafe restaurant. The waiter told us that usually a table must be reserved 24 hours in advance but luckily we managed to got a table without reservation. As you can see espresso is served with a macaroon and date. Espresso costs about 30 AED (7 euros) and Latte is about 40 AED (10 euros). From a waffle you must pay 80 AED (20 euros).


After we had walked around the hotel area we decided to continue our journey to the Etihad Towers and Presidential Palace. I am going to tell about those in the following post.

21.12 päädyimme katsastamaan Emirates Palace-hotellin, Etihad Towersit ja presidentin palatsin. Nämä kaikki kolme sijaitsevat aika lähekkäin ja ne voi käydä katsomassa vaikka kävellen. Tässä postauksessa kerron Emirates Palace-hotellista hieman enemmän.


Kyseinen hotelli on siis ensimmäinen kohde näistä kolmesta, jossa vierailimme. Hotellilla on viisi tähteä(joidenkin lähteiden mukaan seitsemän) ja se sijaitsee Abu Dhabin keskustan tuntumassa. Hotelli avattiin vieraille vuonna 2005 ja se on rakennuskustannuksiltaan maailman kolmanneksi kallein hotelli. Kyseisessä rakennuksessa on yhteensä melkein 400 huonetta ja sviittiä, kokoushuoneita, 1.3km pitkä yksityisranta, monia ravintoloita, helikoptereiden laskeutumispaikkoja ja niin edelleen. Hotelli on sekä turistinähtävyys, että yöpymispaikka. Yö hotellissa maksaa noin 2000 AED, joka on noin 500 euroa. Kesäaikaan hinta on noin 1100 AED eli melkein 300 euroa. Jos vierailee hotellissa, kannattaa vaatetukseen kiinnittää hieman huomiota sillä esimerkiksi shortsit tai uima-asu eivät ole sallittuja vierailijoilla.


Turistit voivat kierrellä hotellin etupihalla, aulassa, sisällä ravintola-alueella ja kaupoissa.


Pistäydyimme yhdessä hotellin kahviloista, jonne onnistuimme pääsemään ilman varausta. Tarjoilija kertoi, että yleensä varaus täytyy tehdä 24 tuntia ennen aiottua vierailua. Kahvit saimme macaron-leivoksen ja taatelin kanssa. Espresso maksoi tuolla noin 7 euroa ja latte noin 10 euroa. Vohvelit olivat 20 euron luokkaa.
